Back into a routine

I can’t believe it’s been a week since I last updated this blog! I feel like all the posts on here lately have been about pain and bad cerebral palsy days and my anxiety and low mood. I think it’s important for me to talk about all that stuff, but it’s nice to be able to have something more positive to tell you too.

With all of these other things going on lately I sort of fell out of the routine of writing and job hunting and spent a lot more time than I would care to admit binge-watching Netflix and drinking way more tea than normal. It was nice to take it easy, but as someone who judges how good her day has been based on her productivity levels (I know, I know), it didn’t make me as happy as you might think.

It took me a while, but I think the bad CP days are gone for now, I’ve started being able to sleep again (and at a slightly better time than 2am, too!) and most excitingly of all I’ve got myself back into the swing of writing and editing. I feel like I’m making progress on my main project.

I made a YouTube video earlier this week about the aftermath of a fall in which I banged my hips and my already bad hip. I expected it to have quite a big impact on me for a few days, but it wasn’t all that bad. Yay!

Counting down to my next appointment

Believe me, I cannot wait for my next acupuncture appointment later on this week.

By the time I have it it will have been three weeks since my last one and it would appear that my hip pain thinks that’s a bit too long to wait.

Things were fine for the first two weeks or so. Sure, it bothered me a little bit, but once I’d got it to crack things settled down again.

However, week three has been a whole other story. I’m back to it causing me problems every night and making it hard to get comfortable. My back is also giving me jip, and the backache is also causing muscular pains in my chest and stomach too.

All of those things at once mean I’ve been getting very little sleep. Even only sorting out the hip pain will make a huge difference.

I can’t wait.

Pains I haven’t had for a while

It seems like my more common pains seem to go in cycles. The top of my back will bother me for a while, then that will settle down a bit and the bottom of my back will start hurting. Then my hamstrings, then the top of back. Then the bottom. Then my hamstrings.

You get the idea.

However, the last couple of weeks have been a bit surprising because I’ve been dealing with something that hasn’t bothered me for about three years or so.

More time between acupuncture appointments

My most recent acupuncture appointment that I had earlier this week went well, not that I had any reason to think it.

We were planning to leave it another two weeks before my next one, as I managed okay going that amount of time rather than a week, but then my acupuncturist realised she might be taking holiday time, so we decided to leave it three week. Just in case.

In truth, I’m quite glad about this. It’s not that I don’t want to have another session, I do. But acupuncture has worked so well for my hip pain that I’m getting a bit nervous about how I might cope when I get discharged. I feel like this longer gap might give me a better idea of that, I think.

As great as this treatment is proving to be for me, I know I can’t have it forever.

In other news, I’ve finally had a haircut so my fringe isn’t in my eyes anymore! Yay!

More hip ache

It’s been almost two weeks since I had my last acupuncture appointment. It’s been so, so helpful in reducing pain in my hip. I have another appointment booked later this week and I can’t wait.

Up until this point, I’ve been going once a week or so and I haven’t had much bother in between. However, this weekend, it’s started keeping me awake at night again, but at least I know the effects lasted longer than a week I guess.

It hasn’t really been giving me too many problems at during the day, until today. I’m going to try getting a hot shower and putting a wheat bag on it, I think. That doesn’t usually do much to help it though, if I’m being honest.

The bottom of my back is also feeling a bit stiff but laying on my front to stretch it out with a wheat bag on it usually does help that. I’m jut trying to put off doing it for the moment because I’m so tired there’s a good chance I’ll fall asleep if I do!
