The girl’s a night owl

I’m writing this post late at night. It’s 23:28 on Tuesday evening and I’d do all my writing at this time of day (night, whatever) if I could.

I’ve turned off the big light and my lamp is giving me just enough light to see my keyboard. There’s soft music playing in my headphones and I’m nice and warm and in those early stages of tiredness where you’re starting to wind down but are still alert enough to do stuff.

I don’t think I’ve ever liked mornings. I never quite know how stiff or achy I’m going to be when I wake up, or how long it’s going to take me to be able to do things.

A trip to the bowling alley

Last weekend some of my family and I went bowling as a way of spending Mother’s Day together.

It’s something that I always enjoyed doing as a child and then started enjoying less as a teenager, because I became  more are more self-conscious about having to play by pushing the ball down a ramp. I often felt like I wasn’t properly taking part, or like as I was cheating by not actually throwing the ball.

Picking up my blue badge

I am now the proud owner of a disabled parking blue badge for the first time in years.

I had one while I was a child and then stopped getting on renewed when I went away to university.

Snow, sleep and sweet treats

Today has been an odd one, well so far anyway. Anyone who knows me will tell you that I am most definitely not a morning person. I used to be, in fact, I think I was a pretty much any kind of day person. I hardly slept.

This morning was a totally different story. I woke up feeling unrested and with a cold that’s only in the early stages of its onset. I hope it stays that way. When I went downstairs only to be informed by my sister that it was snowing, my mood didn’t improve.

I’d originally planned a trip out with a friend today, funnily enough to pick up my new blue badge that will allow me to use disabled parking spaces, but after much deliberation and watching the snow stop and start all morning, we decided not to risk it.
